NBA: Minnesota 88, Charlotte 83

CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 28 (UPI) -- Kevin Love continued his recent tear by scoring 40 points and claiming 19 rebounds Wednesday, helping Minnesota fight off Charlotte 88-83.

Over his last four games Love has averaged 37 points a contest, topped by the franchise-record 51 he produced last week in an overtime loss to Oklahoma City.

The Timberwolves led by 11 with 1:45 to play, giving them plenty of cushion to withstand a late flurry by the Bobcats. Charlotte, a winner just seven times all season, lost its fifth straight.

Luke Ridnour added 15 points with 14 assists for Minnesota, which won in Charlotte for the first time in five tries.

The Bobcats were paced by 22 points from Corey Maggette and 20 from Kemba Walker.
