Westwood back to golf's No. 1 ranking

VIRGINIA WATER, England, April 25 (UPI) -- Lee Westwood, a winner Sunday at the Asian Tour's Indonesian Masters, reclaimed the No. 1 spot Monday in the men's world golf rankings.

Westwood won in Jakarta by three strokes for his 34th professional title. The victory was enough to move him past Martin Kaymer and back into the top spot in the world rankings. Westwood previously was No. 1 for 17 weeks, knocking Tiger Woods from the position, until Kaymer took over.

Westwood won early Sunday but he had to wait to see what transpired in The Heritage in South Carolina to learn if he'd have the top position. A victory at that event by Luke Donald would have moved Donald to No. 1. However, Brandt Snedeker made up a six-stroke deficit to force a playoff with Donald. Snedeker won the tournament on the third playoff hole.

Westwood has a rankings points average of 7.653, just ahead of Kaymer (7.524). Donald (7.375) remains third.

The rest of the Top 10 is unchanged. Phil Mickelson (6.520) keeps the No. 4 spot ahead of Graeme McDowell (5.840) while Tiger Woods (5.715) is sixth. Rory McIlroy (5.641) is seventh and Paul Casey (5.590), Steve Stricker (5.478) and Matt Kuchar (5.212), in order, complete the Top 10.
