
DENVER, April 9 (UPI) -- Brenden Morrow produced the game-winning goal 40 seconds into the third period Friday and Dallas stayed in the playoff race with a 3-2 win over Colorado.
Morrow's goal gave Dallas a 3-1 lead, allowing the Stars room to survive Brandon Yip's second score of the game with 15 minutes remaining.
Kari Lehtonen closed the door after Yip's goal and finished with 15 saves. It was the Stars' fourth straight victory.
Dallas began the evening two points behind both Chicago and Anaheim in the race for the final two playoff positions in the Western Conference.
Mike Ribeiro opened the scoring for Dallas midway through the first period and Loui Eriksson made it a 2-0 contest 6:56 into the second.
Peter Budaj suffered the loss, stopping 25 shots.
