NHL: Detroit 6, Boston 1

BOSTON, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Todd Bertuzzi highlighted an offensive outburst with two goals Friday and led Detroit to a 6-1 smashing of Boston.

Bertuzzi opened the scoring just 70 seconds into the contest and scored the fifth Detroit goal with 3:22 to play in the second period.

Henrik Zetterberg and Jiri Hudler both had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings, who have won two out of three.

Jimmy Howard made 25 saves to get the win. He leads the league with 27 victories this season.

Boston was coming off an 8-6 victory over Montreal, but against Howard could manage only a power-play goal by David Krejci in the first period that briefly cut the Bruins' deficit to 2-1.

Tuukka Rask gave up five goals on 19 shots before being removed in the third period.
