NHL: Boston 3, Carolina 2

RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Nathan Horton and Patrice Bergeron scored third-period goals Monday and the Boston Bruins went on to register a 3-2 victory over Carolina.

The two goals came only 1:12 apart early in the final frame, stunning the Hurricanes and boosting the Bruins to their eighth win in 11 contests.

Daniel Paille also scored and Tim Thomas turned aside 24-of-26 shots as Boston emerged from the All-Star break with a victory.

Jamie McBain and Joe Corvo scored and Cam Ward let in three goals on 33 shots for Carolina.
