UNIONDALE, N.Y., Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Kyle Turris scored in the third round of a shootout Saturday, capping a Phoenix Coyotes comeback for a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders.

Trailing 3-2 with 1:28 left in the regulation, the Coyotes forced overtime when Martin Hanzal collected a big rebound off a shot by Keith Yandle and shot it past Nathan Lawson for the tying goal.

After a scoreless overtime, Shane Doan and Radim Vrbata beat Lawson -- who was making his NHL debut -- before Turris got the third shootout goal, which sent the Coyotes home winners.

Vrbata and Wojtek Wolski added regulation goals and Jason LaBarbera made 41 saves in the win.

The Islanders got a goal and an assist each from Jesse Joensuu and Michael Grabner. Lawson stopped 32-of-35 after being recalled from the minors to replace injured goalie Rick DiPietro.
