NEW YORK, May 2 (UPI) -- Brett Gardner, Robinson Cano and Nick Swisher each homered Sunday and the New York Yankees whacked the Chicago White Sox 12-3.
Swisher ended the day 3-for-4, including a two-run shot, Cano mashed a three-run clout and Gardner -- subbing for injured center fielder Curtis Granderson -- added a solo homer and a run-scoring single for the Yankees.

New York also got a big day from Mark Teixeira, who had four hits with a two-run double, while starter Phil Hughes (3-0) pitched seven shutout innings, holding the White Sox to four hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
Mark Buehrle (2-4) started and lost for Chicago, allowing five runs on 10 hits over 4 2/3 innings. The Sox got a three-run homer from Paul Konerko.
