PHOENIX, April 21 (UPI) -- Mark Reynolds stroked a 3-run homer and Gerardo Parra drove in two runs Tuesday to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks past St. Louis 9-7.
Dan Haren (2-1) picked up the win in a wild outing during which he gave up seven runs on nine hits over six innings, but also struck out eight. Haren went 4-for-4 at the plate with a run batted in.
Reynolds' fourth-inning shot off Mitchell Boggs (0-1) staked the Diamondbacks to an 8-7 lead that held up, while Juan Gutierrez and Chad Qualls kept the Cards off the board in the final two innings. Qualls picked up his second save.
Ryan Ludwick had two home runs for St. Louis. Albert Pujols hit his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot in the third off Haren.
Ludwick's first homer came in the first inning with one on. After Arizona tied the score in the bottom of the first, Ludwick and Pujols combined on back-to-back homers in the third to make it 4-2.
Arizona scored three times in both the third and fourth innings. Reynolds' blast in the fourth proved to be the difference. Chris Snyder singled in an insurance run in the sixth.
