NHL: Los Angeles 5, Vancouver 3

LOS ANGELES, April 19 (UPI) -- Michal Handzus had two goals and an assist Monday and Los Angeles beat Vancouver 5-3 to go up 2-1 in their Western Conference quarterfinal playoff series.

Both of Handzus' goals came on the power play. Drew Doughty had a goal and three assists for the sixth-seeded Kings, who also got goals from Ryan Smyth and Brad Richardson. Jonathan Quick was 25-of-28 in goal for LA.

Mikael Samuelsson, Daniel Sedin and Mason Raymond scored for the Canucks, who pulled Roberto Luongo from goal in the second period after he let in four goals on 16 shots. Andrew Raycroft ended with six saves for Vancouver.

Game 4 is set for Wednesday in Los Angeles.
