RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif., April 1 (UPI) -- Suzann Pettersen fired a 5-under 67 Thursday for a one-shot lead after 18 holes of the Kraft Nabisco Championship -- the LPGA Tour's first major event of 2010.
Pettersen, in search of the second major title of her career, turned in a bogey-free round at the Mission Hills Country Club.
Lorena Ochoa, who needs a good finish this week to ensure she will keep her No. 1 world ranking, was alone in second place after shooting a 68. Two-time champion Karrie Webb shared third place at 3-under 69 with Karen Stupples, Becky Brewerton, Yani Tseng, Na On Min, Song-Hee Kim and Vicky Hurst.
Defending champ Brittany Lincicome was in a tie for 10th at 70.
Michelle Wie was in a group at 71 that included last year's runner-up Cristie Kerr, Morgan Pressel, Pat Hurst and Grace Park.
