ATLANTA, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Patrick Marleau scored two goals and added an assist in San Jose's 4-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers.
Atlanta captain Ilya Kovalchuk, who is tied for the league lead in goals this season with nine, left the game after being hit in the foot by the puck in the first period.
"He is going to the doctor, probably Monday morning to have it scanned and X-rayed to figure out what it is," Atlanta Coach John Anderson said.
Dany Heatly and Joe Thornton scored the other two San Jose goals and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 24 shots in the win.
Evander Kane, Todd White and Rich Peverley scored for the Thrashers, who lost their third consecutive game. Johan Hedberg gave up four goals on 12 shots and was replaced by Ondrej Pavelec, who stopped all 12 shots he faced.
San Jose had only five shots in the second period, but two of them were goals off the stick of Marleau. His power-play goal at 9:19 proved the game-winner.
