CHICAGO, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Carlos Quentin's three-run homer Sunday lifted the Chicago White Sox to an 8-4 win over Detroit.

His 19th homer this season capped a four-run outburst with two outs in the bottom of the eighth shortly after Mark Kotsay's RBI single.

Gordon Beckham and Scott Podsednik had two hits and one RBI apiece, while Jermaine Dye added an RBI single for the White Sox, who won twice in the three-game series.

Winner Daniel Hudson (1-1) gave up two runs and three hits in six innings.

Reliever Matt Thornton earned his third save.

Detroit's Curtis Granderson had three hits, including a solo homer.

Ramon Santiago, Carlos Guillen and Ryan Raburn also had one RBI each with Santiago getting two of the seven hits for the Tigers, who maintained their two-game lead over Minnesota in the AL Central.

The losing pitcher was starter Edwin Jackson (13-8).
