MLB: Tampa Bay 3, Toronto 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 7 (UPI) -- Pat Burrell hit a two- run homer in the 11th inning Tuesday, sending the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Burrell hit only his fourth homer of the season to help the Rays end their four-game losing streak. Gabe Kapler had an RBI in the win.

James Shields allowed only one run on seven hits in seven-plus innings. Dan Wheeler (3-1) earned the win for two scoreless innings of relief.

The Rays had only four hits.

Scott Rolen's eighth-inning, RBI single extended his hitting streak to 24 games, but the Jays lost for the eighth time in 10 games.

Marc Rzepczynski, in his major league debut, gave up just one run on two hits with four walks and seven strikeouts in six innings. Brandon League (1-4) was tagged with the loss for allowing the game-winning homer to Burrell.
