OTTAWA, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- World No. 1 Lorena Ochoa topped the leader board with a first-round 6-under-par 66 in the Canadian Open Thursday, one shot ahead of No. 2 Annika Sorenstam.

Se Ri Pak, Nicole Castrale, Hee-Won Han and Meena Lee were tied for third place at 4-under 68.

Ochoa birdied the 18th to move one in front of Sorenstam, who knocked in birdie putts on the final three holes.

"I think for sure making that birdie makes dinner taste better," Ochoa said.

Sorenstam, who announced she will retire from competitive golf at the end of this season, has won 72 LPGA tournaments.

"Once I'm inside the ropes, I'm there to win, I'm there to play the best I can," the Swedish star said. "I have a tendency when I reflect too much, I forget that you have to hit the shot, and this is what matters. It doesn't matter if you won 72 tournaments earlier. This is the tournament, this is the shot."

Suzann Pettersen, ranked No. 3 in the world, shared seventh place at 69 with Song-Hee Kim, Eunjung Yi, In-Kyung Kim and Catriona Matthew.
