MLB: Detroit 12, LA Dodgers 7

DETROIT, June 14 (UPI) -- Both Miguel Cabrera and Marcus Thames hit two-run, fourth-inning homers Saturday to fuel Detroit's 12-7 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The blasts keyed a six-run uprising.

Detroit's Curtis Granderson had two hits and two RBI. Four others had one RBI. Another run scored on Angel Berroa's throwing error and one scored on Scott Proctor's wild pitch, both in the fifth.

Ivan Rodriguez had three hits, while four players had two hits for the Tigers, who have won five in a row.

Starter Eddie Bonine (1-0) recorded his first major league win after his contract purchased from Class AAA Toledo before the contest.

Los Angeles got a two-run double in the fourth and a two-run homer in the sixth from Andre Ethier. Three players had one RBI.

Delwyn Young and James Loney had three hits each for the Dodgers, whose losing streak grew to four in a row.

Losing pitcher Brad Penny (5-9) yielded seven earned runs and seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.
