MLB: Philadelphia 7, San Diego 4

PHILADELPHIA, April 29 (UPI) -- Cole Hamels limited San Diego to two runs on five hits over 7 1/3 innings Tuesday and Philadelphia used a four-run, eighth-inning outburst to secure a 7-4 win.

Hamels (3-3) did not allow a hit until the fourth inning.

Carlos Ruiz scored twice and drove in two runs, and Jayson Werth, Eric Bruntlett and Pedro Feliz each had an RBI and a run scored for the Phillies, who have won seven of their last nine games.

Greg Maddux (2-2) was the losing pitcher and remained at 349 career wins. In three starts aiming for No. 350, Maddux is 0-2 with one no-decision. He gave up three runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Scott Hairston went 3-for-4 with two home runs and a double for the Padres, who have lost 11 of their last 13 games.
