MLB: Tampa Bay 6, Baltimore 2

BALTIMORE, March 31 (UPI) -- B.J. Upton's two-run single highlighted a three-run third inning Monday that sparked the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' a 6-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Eric Hinske homered for Tampa Bay, which won its first Opening Day road game since 2000. Carl Crawford, Dioner Navarro and Jason Bartlett each drove in a run.

Tampa starter James Shields (1-0) allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings.

Kevin Millar drove in the only runs for the Orioles, who had not lost a home game to open the season since 2000. Baltimore starter Jeremy Guthrie (0-1) was charged with nine hits and six runs over 5 1/3 innings.
