Ginobili, James take NBA weekly awards

NEW YORK, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- San Antonio guard Manu Ginobili and Cleveland forward LeBron James are the NBA players of the week, the league said Monday.

Ginobili, the NBA Western Conference player the week, averaged 30.7 points, 6.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds in helping the Spurs to a 3-0 record Feb. 18-24. He had 44 points, including the game-winning shot, Thursday against Minnesota.

James averaged a triple-double with 28.8 points, 10.5 assists and 12.3 rebounds in a 3-1 week for the Cavaliers. He had triple-doubles against Houston and Indiana on consecutive nights in winning the Eastern Conference player of the week honor.

Other nominees for the weekly awards were: Detroit's Chauncey Billups and Rasheed Wallace, Houston's Tracy McGrady, the Los Angeles Lakers' Lamar Odom, New Jersey's Richard Jefferson, Orlando's Dwight Howard, Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire, Sacramento's Ron Artest and Toronto's Chris Bosh.
