Miller, Stoudemire top NBA weekly honors

NEW YORK, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Philadelphia's Andre Miller and Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire were selected the NBA players of the week, the league said Monday.

Miller averaged 19.5 points and 9 assists a game over a 3-1 week in claiming the NBA Eastern Conference player of the week award. He outscored his opponents' point guard 78-35 and had just 10 turnovers in the four games.

Stoudemire's Suns also went 3-1 in the week Feb. 4-10. He averaged 28.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and a conference-best 3.25 blocks a game. The Western Conference player of the week capped the week with a 31-point effort Sunday, which included two game-clinching free throws in a 108-107 win over Washington.

Also considered for NBA player of the week honors were: Boston's Rajon Rondo, Cleveland's LeBron James, Denver's Carmelo Anthony, Detroit's Tayshaun Prince, Golden State's Monta Ellis, New Jersey's Vince Carter, New Orleans' Peja Stojakovic and Utah's Deron Williams.
