NBA: Atlanta 93, Charlotte 84

ATLANTA, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Joe Johnson had 31 points and six assists Saturday to help the Atlanta Hawks beat Charlotte 93-84.

Atlanta led after each of the first three quarters, but its halftime advantage was just 49-43. The Hawks closed the third with a 14-2 run that gave them a 74-59 lead heading into the fourth.

Marvin Williams had 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. Josh Smith had 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, while Anthony Johnson added 11 points and seven assists for the Hawks -- who had lost their previous two games.

Charlotte was led by Gerald Wallace with 24 points and seven rebounds. Raymond Felton had 15 points and five assists, while Emeka Okafor had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Bobcats -- who have lost eight of nine games away from home and two straight overall.
