VIENNA, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Novak Djokovic Friday advanced to the semifinals of the BC-CA Tennis Trophy Tennis Tournament at Vienna.
The Serbian beat No. 7 seed Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7-2).
Also in Friday's quarterfinals, Spain's Juan Carlos Ferrero topped No. 2 seed Fernando Gonzalez of Chile, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4; unseeded Andreas Seppi of Italy knocked off third-seeded Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia -- a two-time defending champion -- 6-3, 6-3; and in a battle of non-seeds, Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka topped Feliciano Lopez of Spain, 6-7 (8-10), 6-3, 6-4.
Ferrero squandered three match points on Gonzalez's serve at 5-3 in the third set before sealing the victory, while Ljubicic had his 12-match winning streak at the Vienna event broken.
