PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Jeff Francis gave up two runs and just four hits in six innings Wednesday as Colorado beat Philadelphia 4-2 in Game 1 of their NL Division Series.
Colorado established a 3-0 lead in the top of the second as Garrett Atkins, Yorvit Torrealba and Troy Tulowitzki each drove in one run.
After Philadelphia's Aaron Rowand and Pat Burrell hit back-to-back solo homers in the fifth to trim Colorado’s lead to 3-2, Matt Holliday added a solo shot in the eighth.
Torrealba had two of the Rockies' six hits.
Francis (1-0) walked two batters and fanned eight in his first-ever post-season outing in Colorado’s second-ever post-season contest and first since 1995. He fanned Ryan Howard and Chase Utley a total of five times.
Colorado closer Manny Corpas hurled a 1-2-3 ninth.
Philadelphia starter Cole Hamels (0-1) allowed three earned runs and three hits in 6 2/3 innings with four walks and seven strikeouts.
