PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Pat Burrell hit a two-run homer and an RBI double Sunday as Philadelphia beat the Florida Marlins 8-5.
Philadelphia took command quickly with a five-run first inning. Its lead grew to 8-0 before Florida scored five times in the sixth.
Philadelphia’s Carlos Ruiz had three hits, one a two-run homer in the first.
Jayson Werth added a two-run single, while four players had two hits as the Phillies won twice in the three-game series.
The winner was Jamie Moyer (13-11).
Florida scored all of its runs on homers as Hanley Ramirez and Mike Jacobs hit two-run shots, and Jeremy Hermida added a solo blast. Ramirez was the only player with two hits for the Marlins, who have dropped 7 of 10.
The losing pitcher was starter Dontrelle Willis (8-15).
