MLB: N.Y. Yankees 12, Seattle 3

NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Jorge Posada hit two home runs Tuesday as the New York Yankees routed the Seattle Mariners 12-3.

Chien-Ming Wang (17-6) allowed one run on five hits in 7 1/3 innings for the Yankees, who extended their AL wild-card lead over Seattle to two games..

Alex Rodriguez and Bobby Abreu also homered for New York, which had 20 hits in the game. Robinson Cano went 4-for-5 with a two-run double.

Adrian Beltre hit a solo home run for the Mariners, who have lost 10 of their last 11 games. Wladimir Balentien added a two-run double in his first major league at-bat.

Horacio Ramirez (8-5) gave up four runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings to suffer the loss.
