Joba Chamberlain added two perfect innings in relief and Mariano Rivera worked the ninth.

Alex Rodriguez hit his 37th homer, tops in the majors, and Derek Jeter had three hits with an RBI.

The loss went to Fausto Carmona (13-7), who gave up four runs on eight hits in seven innings. He lost his third straight start.

Rodriguez put New York in front with a leadoff homer in the second.

Cleveland players all wore the No. 14, in honor of Larry Doby -- the first black player in the American League, who broke in with the Indians 60 years ago this month.

Doby died in 2003 at 79.
