MLB: Baltimore 2, Kansas City 1 (10 inn.)

BALTIMORE, April 12 (UPI) -- Jay Gibbons hit a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday night to give the Baltimore Orioles a 2-1 victory over Kansas City.

Gibbons went 3-for-5. Brian Roberts was 2-for-5, Miguel Tejada went 2-for-3, and Paul Bako hit an RBI double for the Orioles, who have beaten the Royals three straight times.

The winner was Chris Ray (1-1), who retired the side in one inning of relief.

Mark Grudzielanek hit an RBI single, and both Ross Gload and John Buck had two hits for the Royals, who have lost five of six.

The losing pitcher was Jason Standridge (0-1).

Baltimore starter Steve Trachsel gave up an earned run and three hits in seven innings, with one walk and one strikeout.

His Kansas City counterpart, Gil Meche, scattered seven hits over six scoreless innings, with one walk and five strikeouts.
