Two Russians make Kremlin Cup final

MOSCOW, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Russian tennis stars Nikolay Davydenko and Marat Safin will play in Sunday's final at the Kremlin Cup tournament in Moscow.

In Saturday's semifinals, Davydenko, the top seed and 2004 champion, beat France's Fabrice Santoro, 6-4, 6-1.

In a match between non-seeds, Safin topped countryman Igor Kunitsyn, 6-4, 6-3.

Davydenko and Safin will meet for the fourth time in their professional careers. The previous three matches all occurred earlier this year, with Safin won the first two.

Davydenko will be gunning for his fourth title of 2006 and ninth of his career.

Safin, a two-time Grand Slam winner, has yet to win a tournament this year and will play in a final for the first time as well.

He had lost in the semifinals three times previously.

"Safin always plays 100 percent against other Russians," Davydenko said. "It will be an interesting final both for me and all Russia."
