Players named for U.S. Davis Cup team

FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Andy Roddick, James Blake and twins Mike and Bob Bryan will play for the United States in its Davis Cup semifinal with Russia later this month.

Roddick and Blake, both ranked in the top 10 and still playing in the U.S. Open, will play the singles matches. The Bryan brothers will play doubles.

This same group already won two Davis Cup ties earlier this year, beating Romania, 4-1, in the first round and Chile, 3-2, in the quarterfinals.

"We are looking forward to playing in the semifinals against a tough Russian team," said U.S. Davis Cup Captain Patrick McEnroe.

The United States has won 31 Davis Cup titles, but hasn't won since 1995 in Moscow.

Moscow's Olympic Stadium is the site for this year's tie Sept. 22-24.

Russia's team will consist of two-time Grand Slam champion Marat Safin, Nikolay Davydenko, Dmitry Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny.
