MLB: Boston 11, Baltimore 9

BOSTON, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Mike Lowell and Kevin Youkilis combined to drive in seven runs Sunday afternoon as Boston beat Baltimore, 11-9, for a three-game sweep.

Lowell hit a grand slam home run in the first inning and Youkilis hit a three-run blast in the seventh.

Doug Mirabelli hit a solo homer in the eighth; Coco Crisp and Gabe Kapler also drove in a run apiece; and Wily Mo Pena had a run and two hits for the Red Sox (68-48), who trail the New York Yankees by 1½ games in the American League East.

The winner was Jon Lester (6-2). Jonathan Papelbon earned his 31st save.

Corey Patterson, Kevin Millar and Brian Roberts each had a home run and two RBI; and Melvin Mora had three hits and two RBI for the Orioles (51-67), who have dropped five of their last six games.

The losing pitcher was Daniel Cabrera (5-8).
