MLB: LA Dodgers 3, Cincinnati 0

CINCINNATI, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux held Cincinnati hitless in six scoreless innings Thursday night to help the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Reds, 3-0, completing a three-game sweep.

Olmedo Saenz hit a two-run homer in the first inning; Julio Lugo hit an RBI triple; Rafael Furcal had two runs and two hits; Russell Martin had three hits; and Andre Ethier had two hits for the Dodgers (53-55), who have won six straight after an eight-game losing streak.

It was Maddux's first start for the Dodgers since he was obtained from the Chicago Cubs before last week's trading deadline.

Maddux (1-0) walked three batters and struck out three. Takashi Saito earned his 11th save.

Edwin Encarnacion and Scott Hatteberg each had one hit for the Reds (55-53), who have lost five consecutive games.

Losing pitcher Eric Milton (7-7) gave up two runs and seven hits in seven innings with no walks and four strikeouts.
