WASHINGTON, July 4 (UPI) -- Ryan Zimmerman hit a two-out three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday to give the Washington Nationals a 6-4 victory over the Florida Marlins.
Robert Fick and Alfonso Soriano hit back-to-back, one-out, singles off Florida closer Joe Borowski. Jose Vidro flied out and Zimmerman hit a 2-2 pitch over the left field fence.
Marlon Byrd also homered for the Nationals, who won their fourth in a row. Chad Cordero (4-3) picked up the win, giving up just one hit in 1 1/3 innings.
Mike Stanton worked a scoreless inning of relief and moved into sole possession of third place on the all-time games pitched list with 1,072 appearances, passing Hall-of-Famer Dennis Eckersley.
Hanley Ramirez homered for the Marlins, who have lost four in a row.
