NHL: N.Y. Rangers 5, Atlanta 1

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Martin Rucinsky had a goal and an assist Saturday night as the New York Rangers beat Atlanta, 5-1.

Henrik Lundqvist made 28 saves, Michael Nylander also had one goal and one assist, Marcel Hossa had two assists and Jaromir Jagr had one assist as the Rangers improved to 3-1-2.

For the Thrashers (2-4-0), Ilya Kovalchuk scored the lone goal and Adam Berkhoel made 24 saves in his NHL debut.

New York was 1-for-4 on the power play. Atlanta, which has lost three straight, went 0-for-6.
