ST. LOUIS, July 23 (UPI) -- Derrek Lee smacked a two-run homer and Jeromy Burnitz and Aramis Ramirez each had a solo round-tripper as the Chicago Cubs beat St. Louis, 6-5.
Lee's 32nd homer, tops in the major leagues this season, tied his career-high, set with the Cubs last season. Ramirez had three hits, and Neifi Perez and Michael Barrett each had an RBI for the Cubs.
Chicago starter Jerome Williams improved to 3-3. He gave up four runs on seven hits over six innings, with three walks and three strikeouts.
Ryan Dempster notched his 14th save.
Mark Grudzielanek went 2-for-3 and drove in two for the Cardinals, losers of three out of their last five games.
Cards' starter Matt Morris (11-3) gave up six runs on seven hits over six innings, with five strikeouts and one walk.
