MLB: Anaheim 9, San Francisco 8

ANAHEIM, Calif., May 28 (UPI) -- The LA Angels of Anaheim overcame a five-run deficit in the ninth Friday, and edged the Kansas City Royals 9-8 on Dallas McPherson's home run in the 10th.

The second consecutive win for Anaheim came as Steve Finley went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while McPherson ended 2-5, driving in two runs for the Angels.

For the Royals, David DeJesus was 3-for-5 with an RBI, with John Buck recording two hits, including a solo homer. The Royals have lost six of their last seven games.

Scot Shields put down Kansas City in order at the top of the 10th, and the Angels won the game in the home half, with McPherson hitting his third home run of the season.

Shields (4-1) got the win.

Following the game, the Angels activated Kelvim Escobar from the 15-day disabled list and optioned pitcher Ervin Santana to AAA Salt Lake. Escobar was scheduled to start Saturday's game.
