EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Curtis Martin gained 111 yards and scored twice Sunday in rallying the New York Jets from a 14-point deficit to a 22-14 win over San Francisco.
The Jets (5-0) remained one of three unbeaten teams in the NFL. They are unbeaten after five games for the first time in franchise history.
Chad Pennington completed 20 of 30 for 222 yards and then relied on Martin for two fourth-quarter scores. Martin's first touchdown came in the opening moments of the final period and put the Jets ahead at 15-14.
Martin moved into eighth place on the NFL's all-time rushing list with 12,282 yards. He went by Marcus Allen after surpassing Franco Harris last week.
His 12,282 career rushing yards are good enough for eighth on the NFL's all-time list, passing Marcus Allen (12,243 yards) a week after going by Franco Harris.
With San Francisco in good field position and trailing by just a point late in the game, quarterback Tim Rattay threw the ball directly to New York linebacker Jonathan Vilma.
Martin scored four plays later on a nine-yard run.
