MLB: Florida 4, Philadelphia 2

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Mike Lowell and Miguel Cabrera hit two-run homers Saturday to give Florida a 4-3 win over Philadelphia after the Phillies fired Manager Larry Bowa.

Gary Varsho was in charge Saturday and will manage the Phillies for the final game of the season for both teams on Sunday.

Josh Beckett (9-9) worked eight innings for the win. The righthander was charged with two runs on seven hits.

Phillies starter Eric Milton (14-6) was charged with the loss after serving up Lowell's 27th homer in the first inning and Cabrera's 33rd in the sixth.

Jason Michaels homered in the second and Tomas Perez drove in a run in the sixth for the Phillies.
