NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Gary Sheffield, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada hit home runs as the New York Yankees blasted Boston 11-1 Sunday.
It was the second straight Yankees' rout of Boston and gave them a 4 1/2-game lead over the second-place Red Sox in the American League East.

The two teams will battle again next week in a three-game series in Boston.
Mike Mussina 12-9 was the winner, holding Boston to a run on seven hits in seven innings.
Pedro Martinez (16-7) pitched into the sixth inning for the Red Sox and took the loss, giving up eight runs and eight hits.
