PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Center fielder Marlon Byrd has re-signed with the Philadelphia Phillies for one year, General Manager Ruben Amara said Wednesday.

Amara said Byrd agreed to a deal that will pay him $355,000 at the major league level or $240,000 if he spends the season in the minors.

Byrd was the team's starting center fielder last season, as a rookie, and is expected to hold the position again in 2004. He hit .303 with seven homers and 135 RBI last season.

The only unsigned players remaining on the Phillies' roster are outfielder Jason Michaels, shortstop Anderson Machado, second baseman Chase Utley and pitcher Brett Myers.
