Minnesota 35, San Francisco 7

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Randy Moss recorded his fifth career three-touchdown game Sunday as Minnesota buried San Francisco, 35-7.

In the victory, Moss caught eight passes for 172 yards to help keep the Vikings stay unbeaten at 4-0.

Backup quarterback Gus Frerotte started for an injured Daunte Culpepper and threw for four touchdowns overall, connecting with Nate Burleson on a 22-yard scoring play with 56 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Vikings a 28-0 halftime lead.

The win was the seventh in a row for Minnesota, dating back to last season.

Star wide receiver Terrell Owens and quarterback Jeff Garcia struggled against Minnesota's improved defense. Owens had five receptions for 55 yards, and Garcia, who was replaced by Tim Rattay in the fourth quarter, completed just 11-of-23 passes for 108 yards.
