ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 30 (UPI) -- The Polish Ministry of National Defense has contracted Harris Corp. to provide its multi-band and high-frequency tactical radio technologies.
U.S. company Harris was awarded the contract to support Poland's Land and Special Operations Command Forces. Under the $20 million award, Harris will provide the Polish armed forces with its family of Falcon radio systems.
Officials say the contract includes a delivery of Harris' multi-band hand-held radio, manpack radio and high-frequency manpack radio technologies to support secure voice and data communications for Poland's Land and Special Operations Command Forces.
"The Polish armed forces are continuing to play a vital role in complex, multinational peacekeeping missions around the world," Brig. Gen. Slawomir Szczepaniak, Poland armed forces Procurement Department director, said in a statement.
"This requires our troops to be equipped with the most reliable and capable communications equipment possible. Technology from Harris -- as has been proven in past deployments -- will ensure our forces have continuous secure communications amongst our own forces as well as with our allies in the field."
