Egyptian authorities later said the two were Egyptian policemen and that the Israelis opened fire first in the incident at Mount Sagi.

The newspaper said the investigation was ordered by Defense Minister Amir Peretz.

In other security developments, Israeli Defense Forces on Friday discovered and exploded a bom that had been placed on the side of a road near a refugee camp near Nablus in the West Bank.
