The 132 megawatt wind farm will generate enough power to meet the energy demands of roughly 50,000 households near Eustis, Maine.

"We are proud to help Maine meet its energy needs and support its goal of 2,000 megawatts of clean, renewable in-state energy generation by 2015," said Russ Girling, TransCanada's president and chief executive officer, in a statement.

The company added that it spent more than $100 million on the wind project in Maine.

The completion of the Kibby wind project brings the total wind energy capacity of TransCanada to 415MW.
