June 21 (UPI) -- Game of Thrones stars go to battle in a new Season 7 trailer released Wednesday.

The promo shows Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) head to war as the threat of the Night's King (Richard Brake) and White Walkers looms.

"For centuries, our families fought together against their common enemy, despite their differences -- together," Jon says in the preview. "We need to do the same if we're going to survive, because the enemy is real. It's always been real."

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies -- but the pack survives," Sansa echoes, recalling the words of her late dad, Eddard Stark.

Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan), The Hound (Rory McCann), Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman) and Daenerys' dragons also appear in the trailer. Season 7 will premiere July 16.

"This season is really different than any other season because it's accelerating toward the end, a lot of stuff collides and happens much quicker than you're used to seeing on Thrones," Harington told Entertainment Weekly in May. "It's quite exciting."

Game of Thrones is based on the A Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R.R. Martin. The series will conclude with an eighth season in 2018, but may be followed by one or more spinoff shows.
