Neil Fingleton of 'Game of Thrones' dead at 36

The actor was also known for "X-Men: First Class" and "Doctor Who."

Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Game of Thrones actor Neil Fingleton died at age 36 over the weekend.

The 7-foot 7-inch British star, who played the giant Mag the Mighty on the HBO series, died of apparent heart failure Saturday, Feb. 25, according to TMZ.

Fingleton played basketball in college and professionally before pursuing acting. He was confirmed as Britain's tallest living man in 2007, according to a tribute on the Tall Persons Club official Facebook page.

"To be the tallest is like a special gift, it's unique," the actor told The Journal the same year. "I've never had any problems with my height."

Fingleton was also known for the movies X-Men: First Class with James McAvoy, 47 Ronin with Keanu Reeves and Jupiter Ascending with Channing Tatum. He also appeared in the BBC series Doctor Who.

"Very sad to hear of the tragic passing of Neil Fingleton. He followed his dreams. Rest in peace," Game of Thrones actor Ian Whyte tweeted Sunday.
