NEW YORK, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Alec Baldwin and Jason Sudeikis channeled Donald Trump and Mitt Romney for this weekend's edition of Saturday Night Live.

The sketch imagined what Saturday's real-life, closed-door meeting between the U.S. president-elect and former Massachusetts governor, who was a vocal critic of Trump during his campaign, might have been like.

In the show's version, the two men were seen meeting at Trump's New Jersey, golf-course clubhouse where they stared at each other and shook hands for a long, awkward time before Romney admitted, "This isn't going to work, is it?"

"I don't think so," Baldwin as Trump agreed.

"Great," Romney said, as he hastily made his departure.

The scene was part of a bigger sketch which shows Trump overwhelmed as he interviews cabinet members and tries to find ways to keep the promises he made on the campaign trail.

The real Trump responded to the episode on Twitter.

"I watched parts of @nbcsnl Saturday Night Live last night. It is a totally one-sided, biased show - nothing funny at all. Equal time for us?" he tweeted.

Baldwin then responded with a Twitter tirade.

"Equal time? Election is over. There is no more equal time. Now u try 2 b Pres + ppl respond. That's pretty much it," Baldwin said.

"You know what I would do if I were Prez? I'd be focused on how to improve the lives of AS MANY AMERICANS AS POSSIBLE," the actor added.

"I'd be focused on improving our reputation abroad, including actually fighting for freedom and not just oil," he continued.

After several other posts, Baldwin concluded: "I could go on. You want more advice, call me. I'll be at SNL."

Baldwin began playing Trump on the show this season on a recurring basis. Sudeikis is a former SNL cast member who returns every once in awhile to reprise his most famous roles.
