LOS ANGELES, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- The culinary drama Feed the Beast will not be back for a second season on AMC.

The cable-television network confirmed the show's cancellation after 10 episodes to Deadline and Variety on Friday.

Low ratings and lukewarm, critical reviews reportedly were to blame for the demise of the freshman series.

"We have great respect and admiration for the entire team associated with Feed the Beast, starting with Clyde Phillips, David Schwimmer, Jim Sturgess and our studio partner, Lionsgate," AMC said in a statement. "We are thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with them and appreciative of their talents, dedication and care. Unfortunately, the show simply didn't achieve the results needed to move forward with a second season."
