Disney stars Dove Cameron, Ryan McCartan engaged

LOS ANGELES, April 15 (UPI) -- Liv and Maddie star Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan are engaged.

The 20-year-old actress and 22-year-old actor announced the news on social media Thursday, with McCartan dedicating his 1,000th Instagram post to his bride-to-be.

"Dedicating my 1,000th post to my fiancée. I can't believe I get to call you that. Thanks for saying yes," he wrote to Cameron.

"Calling you my 'boyfriend' never really felt right anyway. Fiancé looks better on you," the actress responded in her own post.

Cameron and McCartan met on the set of the Disney Channel series Liv and Maddie and started dating in 2013. The actress plays the dual role of Liv and Maddie, while McCartan portrays Diggie, who was last seen in the Season 3 premiere.

"We sat in this really cute room [at the Bourgeois Pig] and just drank some cider and talked," McCartan said of his first date with Cameron to J-14 magazine in May. "Then I took her up to this place up in the Hollywood Hills that has basically a panoramic 360 view."

"We saw all the lights, the Hollywood sign," he elaborated. "We were up there until three in the morning just like talking and looking at the lights. Then I took her home and it was the most perfect, most romantic first date ever."

Cameron is also known for voicing Mal in the Descendants and will reprise the role in a 2017 sequel. McCartan, meanwhile, will play Brad Majors in Fox's forthcoming TV movie remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with Laverne Cox.
