LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Lex Scott Davis will play Toni Braxton in the Lifetime biopic Un-Break My Heart.

The 24-year-old actress is niece to singer-songwriter Rico Love, and recently appeared on TV Land comedy The Exes starring Donald Faison.

Un-Break My Heart is based on Braxton's 2014 memoir of the same name. The 48-year-old singer will executive produce the project, which begins production next week. Mom writer Susan McMartin penned the script, with Vondie Curtis Hall to serve as director.

The "authorized life story" will follow the ups and downs of Braxton's personal life and career. The singer has sold over 67 million records and won seven Grammy Awards, but struggled with illness, financial difficulties and divorce.

Debbi Morgan will portray Braxton's mom, Evelyn Jackson, with Cortney Scott Wright, Skye P. Marshall, LaToya Franklyn and Tiffany Hines as her sisters, Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar Braxton. Gavin Houston will play the singer's frequent collaborator, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.

Braxton last released Love, Marriage & Divorce with Babyface in February 2014, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The singer, her mom and sisters have starred on WE reality series Braxton Family Values since 2011, and completed a fourth season in September.
