LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Jennifer Lawrence recently revealed she cried ahead of a singing scene in her upcoming movie, Hunger Games: Mockingajy - Part 1 and during a visit to Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday the actress explained why.

Lawrence admitted she's been scared to sing since she was a child because "I have a Southern mother who would just tell me that I was amazing at everything, that I could do everything. But, I can't." The actress then told a story about a time her dad couldn't stop laughing at her "tone-deaf-Amy-Winehouse voice" when she performed in a school musical at the age of 8.

Letterman later tried to get the actress to perform the song she sings in the film -- Lawrence revealed it's called "The Hanging Tree" -- but when she hinted she would rather walk out of the interview the two launched into an interesting duet.

Mockingajy - Part 1, the third installment of the Hunger Games saga premiers in theaters on Nov. 21.
