'Selfie' canceled at ABC

The sitcom is in the midst of a 13-episode first season.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Selfie has been canceled by ABC.

The sitcom premiered September 30, and is in the midst of a 13-episode first season. The series debuted to 5.3 million viewers, but viewership fell to 3.23 million this week. The network will air episode seven November 11, but it is unclear if the remaining six will be broadcast.

Selfie stars Karen Gillan as Eliza Dooley, a young woman obsessed with achieving fame through social media platforms such as Instagram. The character seeks help from marketing rep Henry Higgs (John Cho) after she realizes the Internet isn't a substitute for real friendship.

Gillan is best known for portraying Amy Pond on BBC series Doctor Who, and also appeared as Kaylie Russell in Oculus and Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy. The 26-year-old actress is scheduled for The List and In a Valley of Violence.

Cho starred as Harold Lee in the Harold & Kumar films, and Hikaru Sulu in the Star Trek reboot movies. The 42-year-old actor has portrayed recurring character Andy Brooks on two seasons of Fox series Sleepy Hollow.
